An abundance of biofilms are known to colonize these pods so do not be shocked if after a couple of days you have a layer of biofilm It is recommended that you leave these biofilm alone as your fish or shrimp will feed from them 

Botanicals are not just great for tannin your water they have fantastic health benifits such as they have antibacterial propertys stress relieving antifungal propertys aid in breeding natural food source and natural hiding places

Botanicals can be added straight away into your aquarium where they will float for a while or until they sink to the bottom
To speed up this process you can boil the botanicals for a couple of minutes.
Over time the botanicals will slowly degrade and can remain in your aquarium
